McKinsey & Company Emerging Scholars Interview Invite

McKinsey is definitely on my short list of companies I would like to work for post-MBA.  From many of the people that I have talked to that work there or have worked there in the past, the firm offers some of the best opportunities to work with brilliant individuals and solve complex business issues.

Awhile back I decided to apply for the McKinsey & Company Emerging Scholars program.  Last week I received an email from the McKinsey recruiting coordinator for UCLA Anderson with an invite to interview.  I am thrilled for the opportunity!  I better start preparing.  If anyone has any tips for the interviews, feel free to shoot them my way.  I will take any help I can get.

    1. Are you aware of any final decisions that have been sent out? I received some snail mail from a Partner at the Chicago office on behalf of the program, but it didn't specify any decision--it definitely seemed positive (and it was address to a group of applicants) but nothing absolute!

      Any word on your end? Good luck at UCLA, by the way, that is fantastic!

    2. Hey, thanks for the message! I haven't heard back yet, but I did speak to the recruiter I interviewed with and she said results will be announced this week before the Fourth of July. Good luck! Where are you headed for school?

    3. Sounds good. I am off to Duke. I have a great friend in law school at UCLA right now. He is very interested in entrepreneurial law and works with some of the business students. So, if that is your thing, I will gladly introduce you via Linkedin or something.

      Did you get a feel for whether or not the before-the-4th timeline was a recruiter-/school-specific deadline? I wonder if all programs selections will be announced before then.

    6. I wasn't able to find it either. It is possible that the applications for the program aren't open yet. I don't think I applied until February or March last year.

    1. Hey, thanks! I heard back yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't get it. I'm definitely sad about it, but it was great exposure to the firm and I really enjoyed the interview process. Plus, I got to know the McKinsey UCLA recruiter and a couple UCLA alumni at McKinsey. Were you a semi-finalist as well?

  5. Problem: HP Printer not connecting to my laptop.

    I had an issue while connecting my 2 year old HP printer to my brother's laptop that I had borrowed for starting my own business. I used a quick google search to fix the problem but that did not help me.
